EBS Performance testing, Lessons Learned
HNI completed a large scale performance test of our EBS solution for Finance, Order Entry, Scheduling, and Manufacturing. That experience led to many findings of what worked well and "If I was doing this again, what would I do differently." I'd like to share these lessons learned with the Oracle community.

Straight Talk on Business Critical Applications in the Cloud
As much as the term Cloud Computing gets tossed around these days you would think everyone’s using it. But do cloud predictions really match real world use? If you aren’t “in the cloud” are you already behind the competition?

During this presentation, we will discuss the pros and cons of moving your applications to the cloud, with a particular focus on business critical applications like Oracle. We will share our experiences working with clients to determine if their applications are “cloud ready” through a review of availability, costs, and operational impacts. Examples of successful use cases in the public cloud will be explored including emerging technologies, DRaaS, new applications, older applications running on older hardware, and startups.

You’ll leave with a better understanding of the types of applications that are best suited for the cloud, a list of questions you should be asking when considering moving your Oracle applications and databases to the cloud, and a checklist you can use to evaluate your application’s cloud readiness.

Visualizing Event Data in Your Business: A Case Study
Individual events affect your business. So why is it that we always seem to look at sums and averages?
In this case study, we will examine the application of a business intelligence tool on measuring the safety of the transportation industry. It’s all about events that take place in a traffic corridor, at specific points in time.

We will show how we built a custom visualization to display these events. Of course, we all want to decrease accidents, but if we cannot track individual events, how can we ensure that we are making our roadways safer?

Come hear (and see!) how we are handling event data in Oracle Business Intelligence in a live demo of a custom-built system.

Working with Oracle 12c databases in the Oracle Cloud
Many organizations are now embracing the cloud in order to help reduce their operational costs, but the notion of migrating an Oracle 12c multi-tenancy database from on-premise to the Oracle Cloud may seem like a daunting proposition. After all, it will require a dramatic shift in the way you do your job – from performance testing, to administration, to management and ongoing maintenance. In the cloud!

During this session, Quest systems engineer Mark Kurtz will help demystify working with an Oracle 12c database in the Oracle Cloud, and take it from an initiative perceived as scary to one that’s more familiar.

We will share:
* How Oracle 12c is different from its predecessors and the benefits it can provide
* How to create an Oracle 12c database in the Oracle Cloud* Performance testing an Oracle Cloud database
* How to move a 12c pluggable database to the Oracle Cloud* How to move data into an Oracle Cloud database
* How supporting toolsets can help alleviate your challenges along the way

The Bill for IT: IT Service Costing, Showback & Chargebacks with Profitability & Cost Management Cloud Service (PCMCS)
Within most “New Economy” organizations, Information Technology costs are one of the biggest areas of back-office spend.

The goal of the Chief Information Office (CIO) is to make sure Information Technology spend and services are aligned with business strategy, with the appropriate focus on Run vs. Build activities.

IT Financial Management is one of the disciplines that supports the mission of IT by providing critical planning & costing capabilities that provides for superior technology business management – allowing for IT to better deliver and demonstrate value to their internal business partners.

The recent release of Oracle Profitability & Cost Management Cloud Service (PCMCS) has created a platform to deliver performance management solutions to all areas of the enterprise.

With this in mind, Edgewater Ranzal and Oracle partnered to design and deliver downloadable content to the Oracle Cloud Marketplace to support IT Service Costing & Chargebacks.

This session will provide an overview of this new domain starter kit, including the data model and pre-built analytics, as well as walk through various costing methodologies available allowing an IT organization to pivot between Financial, Project, Resource, Service & Consumer views of their data. Integrating OBI with D3 to Expand Built-in Functionality
Many organizations encounter situations where they have report requirements that simply cannot be achieved with the built-in functionality of Oracle Business Intelligence (OBI), including Oracle Analytics Cloud (OAC).

However, OBI provides the functionality to integrate your data with JavaScript libraries such as D3 to create custom interactive visualizations in Answers, Data Visualization, and Data Visualization Desktop.

This session will show you examples of what is possible based on real-life business cases using freely available open source libraries such as D3.

We will also discuss the steps for integrating external libraries with OBI, and provide an overview of what libraries are available to create custom visualizations.

Secure your Cloud with Oracle IDCS and CASB
Whether using SaaS applications or building your own on top of PaaS/IaaS, cloud services promise lower costs and decreased time to solution. However, these gains are accompanied by losses of visibility and control over data and applications as well as greater exposure to potential attackers and fraudsters. Since traditional security solutions inside the network perimeter (e.g. firewalls, proxies, and IDS/IRS) are ineffective against the any-device, any-time access model of the cloud, something else is needed to address these security concerns. In this session, learn how the capabilities of Oracle Identity Cloud Service (IDCS) and Cloud Access Security Broker (CASB) can be leveraged to reduce these security risks by strengthening login security, providing much needed visibility and monitoring, detecting attacks and anomalies, and driving data security and compliance. Participants will become familiar with these products as an integral part of a successful security posture towards cloud services.
